Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has stirred excitement on social media with hints that Shah Rukh Khan might star alongside Rajinikanth in the upcoming Tamil film Jailer 2, scheduled for release in June 2026. In a recent interview, Chakraborty confirmed parts of the star-studded cast and shared insights about his own role in the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer.
Speaking to Siti Cinema, Chakraborty revealed, “My next project is Jailer 2, where everybody is against me.” He named several prominent actors, saying, “Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, Shiva Rajkumar—all their characters are against me.”If confirmed, this would be the first time Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth share screen space in a theatrical film.
Although both appeared in the 2011 film Ra.One which featured Rajinikanth’s iconic character Chitti from Enthiran they never acted together directly. Fans have long awaited a collaboration between these two superstars, and Chakraborty’s remarks have reignited the buzz.
Now, talking about the film, it is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 reunites Rajinikanth with his 2023 co-star Ramya Krishnan. Reports and cast confirmations suggest the film will also feature celebrated actors like Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vidya Balan, and others, promising a complex narrative with multiple key roles.
Jailer 2 aims to build on the intense action and drama that made the original a hit. As of now, the production has not officially confirmed Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement.
