Intense Box Office Battle Between Coolie and War 2 in Telugu States: NTR Jr. Flexes His Star Power Against Rajinikanth

The box office in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has become a fierce battleground as War 2 and Coolie clash for screen dominance. According to reliable sources, Asian Cinemas and Sitara Entertainment are locked in a heated tussle to secure prime-time shows across the Telugu states. A trade insider told Bollywood Hungama, “With NTR Jr. leading War 2, the film is expected to eventually win the showcasing battle. However, Suniel Narang, owner of Asian Cinemas, is aggressively pushing to claim 40 percent of the screens for Coolie.”
Exhibitors in the region reportedly lean toward Naga Vamsi and War 2, recognizing NTR Jr. as one of the biggest local stars with immense influence. “Both NTR Jr. and Naga Vamsi hold considerable sway, and no one wants to upset either party. The fierce face-off between Coolie and War 2 will soon resolve with War 2 securing stronger screen presence—approximately 62 percent of screens—leaving Coolie with about 38 percent,” the source revealed. While Asian Cinemas is pushing for a 60:40 screen split favoring Coolie, Sitara Entertainment aims for a 70:30 ratio in favor of War 2.
The battle is expected to conclude with War 2 clearly leading in North India as well as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, thanks to the combined efforts of YRF and local distributors who are committed to giving the film a showcase worthy of its scale. NTR Jr. is reportedly leveraging his star power and industry connections to secure premium showings, successfully positioning War 2 ahead of Rajinikanth’s Coolie.
Although Coolie has a relatively limited release in the Telugu states, its ultimate success will depend on audience reception and word of mouth. All eyes are now on the August 14 release date as this high-stakes box office battle unfolds.
