The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has released an official statement addressing inaccurate interpretations of a recent Bombay High Court order. The legal proceedings involve a dispute between Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks Private Limited and Vikramaditya Motwane’s Andolan Films Private Limited, a case in which IMPPA was impleaded as a party.
The association emphasized that its involvement was strictly limited to discharging its institutional responsibilities under its governing charter. IMPPA noted that the dispute was originally presented before its Dispute Resolution Committee, and any internal determinations were solely binding on the specific parties involved. The body reiterated that it holds no independent commercial claim or financial interest in the underlying dispute between the two production houses.
Addressing rumors regarding court-imposed limitations, IMPPA firmly denied claims that the judiciary had restricted its day-to-day operations. The association stated that no blanket restraining order has been passed against it, confirming that media reports suggesting otherwise misrepresent the High Court’s explicit terms and scope.
IMPPA reiterated that it will not accept any narrative extending beyond the written court order and will continue operating within its established legal framework. Through this statement, the trade body aims to distance its institutional functions from the private commercial dispute while ensuring public clarity regarding the court’s actual ruling.
