Actor Huma Qureshi has expressed her frustration over the limited number of theatrical screenings for her latest film, Single Salma, which released on October 31. Taking to Instagram, she shared messages from fans who were unable to find any showtimes for the film in their cities, highlighting the film’s restricted release.
In her Instagram Stories, Huma reposted a message from a fan in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, who wrote, “I opened an online movie booking app to book tickets for Single Salma, but there isn’t a single show in my city… It’s sad that cinema halls can’t even give one show to a talented actor like Huma Qureshi.” Responding to this, Huma wrote, “My DMs are full of messages like this.
More shows for Single Salma.” She also showed support for her brother and the film’s producer, Saqib Saleem, stating, “Will always keep fighting the good fight @saqibsaleem. More shows for Single Salma.” Directed by Nachiket Samant, Single Salma stars Huma alongside Shreyas Talpade and Sunny Singh. The film explores themes of self-love, individuality, and empowerment through the journey of its protagonist.

The film’s limited release is reportedly due to a dispute between its producers and major cinema chains over the Virtual Print Fee (VPF), resulting in very few screens being allotted nationwide. This has sparked concern among fans and industry peers, who have rallied behind Huma, urging theaters to increase the number of shows.
Huma’s posts have gained significant attention online, shedding light on the challenges mid-scale films face in securing adequate screen space amid stiff competition and high distribution costs. Single Salma is produced by Star Studio18 and Elemen3 Entertainment.
