It’s the moment of joy for everyone as the theatres in Maharashtra will be reopened in the state from 22nd October. And it is a big news especially for the films which will be releasing this year. But amidst all of this Vicky Kaushal starrer Sardar Uddham Singh will have a OTT release and fans are curious about this move.
When the same question was asked to the director of the film, he stated that the film needs a audience from all sides of the globe. Sircar said, “Like we say there is a destiny for every film, so I think Sardar Udham’s destiny landed on Amazon Prime. When I shot the film, there was nothing of this situation, I hope whatever you have seen of the trailer I have shot the film for cinema. Unfortunately yes, the situation went like that. There is no guilt that it is now it’s releasing on Amazon Prime. Once I had decided and Ronnie had decided that this will go on the digital platform, I didn’t feel that there is a mistake that I am doing. I was quite happy, number one, I will tell you the reason that when Gulabo Sitabo happened there was a lot of talk that why I realise that film and I have given my clarification that the situation was that and we could not hold on to this film. Number two, is that I am really impatient when a film is done. I just want to quickly reach out to people. Since 1990 that the film was done in the old world and we were doing the post-production, I actually wanted to get this film out.”
Another thing, the reach that Gulabo had in terms of people I thought also this film which needs a huge global platform apart from our Indian territories so I thought that’s also a good reason for me to go head and yes the cinematic experience that you are talking about, we are going to miss it. But, this is not a compromise in the cinematic narrative that I have used. It is as cinematic as you will see in a theatre and it as cinematic as you will see on a small screen”.
The movie will be streaming on Amazon Prime from October 16.
