Farhan Akhtar Donates 50 Phones to Uttarakhand Flood Survivors

In a quiet yet powerful gesture of compassion, actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has extended crucial support to victims of the recent devastating flash floods in Uttarakhand. Partnering with the Gurugram-based non-profit Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF), Akhtar donated 50 multimedia mobile phones to families displaced by the disaster.
Farhan Akhtar has a history of helping those in need discreetly, and this time was no different. Divyanshu Upadhyay, associated with BDRF and a longtime collaborator with Akhtar on various causes, reached out to him after the cloudburst-triggered floods earlier this month severely affected communities in Uttarakhand. According to sources, the actor promptly responded by sending 50 phones to families in the severely impacted areas of Harsil and Dharali.
Since the tragedy struck, BDRF has been actively providing aid, distributing essentials like rations, blankets, and mattresses to those affected. Upadhyay approached Akhtar with a special request for phones, as many survivors were unable to contact their loved ones amid the chaos. A source revealed, “Divyanshu messaged Farhan on August 10, and the actor quickly sent 50 multimedia phones, each valued at around Rs 7,000.
These phones became vital tools for survivors to reconnect with family and friends after days of being cut off.”The donation was more than just practical assistance; it symbolized a crucial step toward restoring hope during a time of profound distress. A volunteer involved in the distribution, working on the ground since August 7, shared, “As survivors re-established contact with their families, the relief was palpable.
The phones brought comfort, reducing feelings of isolation and fear. Many people have been living in dharamshalas after losing their homes, struggling to reach out to loved ones.”According to ABP Live, the phones played a significant role in emotional recovery, helping survivors in Harsil and Dharali feel safer and more connected in the aftermath of one of Uttarakhand’s most severe natural calamities in recent memory.
