Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is a problematic film that tries to sell obsession and absurdity as profound love, relying heavily on the good looks and chemistry of its leads, Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa. In 2025, the idea of a man falling in love based purely on a single glance is not romance; it is superficiality, and the film takes an eternity to acknowledge this simple fact.
Harshvardhan Rane plays Vikram Aditya Gokhale, a rich politician destined for the Chief Minister’s seat. He believes power is supreme until he catches a glimpse of the beautiful Adaa (Sonam Bajwa). When Vikram Aditya confesses his love, and Adaa fails to reciprocate, the film takes a bizarre turn.
The core issue is that Vikram Aditya’s “love” is pure obsession—a refusal to take no for an answer, a toxic pattern reminiscent of the problematic “heroes” of past Indian cinema. Though the film shows a fleeting spark when Adaa tries to take matters into her own hands, dealing with the “psycho” instead of becoming a damsel in distress, the narrative quickly turns more bizarre with every scene and dialogue.
The film’s most alarming feature is how it keeps turning obsession into “love,” creating a storyline packed with red flags. Despite this, the film risks being dangerous and problematic because its decent music and the stunning chemistry between Rane and Bajwa might cause the Gen-Z audience to miss the toxicity and actually start rooting for this deeply flawed hero and his disturbing “ishq.” This film desperately needs a script therapist rather than justifying a red flag story as romance.
