Delhi High Court Reserves Verdict in Rajpal Yadav’s ₹6 Crore Cheque Bounce Case

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav faces renewed legal challenges as the Delhi High Court has reserved its judgment in a long-standing ₹6 crore cheque bounce dispute. During a hearing on Thursday, the court expressed dissatisfaction with the actor’s inconsistent stance regarding the clearance of his dues, noting a contradiction between his claims of readiness to pay and the arguments presented by his legal team.

The case traces back to 2024, when a sessions court found Yadav guilty and sentenced him to six months in prison. While the High Court initially paused this sentence based on assurances of a financial settlement, the situation escalated after multiple payment deadlines were missed. By early 2026, the court’s patience waned, leading to Yadav’s brief surrender in February. He was later granted temporary relief only after depositing ₹1.5 crore with the complainant.

In the latest proceedings, the court suggested a one-time settlement of ₹6 crore to resolve the matter. While the complainant expressed a willingness to accept this amount to close the case, Yadav requested an additional 30 days to arrange the funds—a plea the judge firmly rejected. Yadav, appearing via video conference, cited heavy financial losses and claimed he had already sold several properties to meet his obligations, stating that his total dues now reportedly stand at approximately ₹7.75 crore.

The complainant’s legal representative argued that serving a jail sentence does not absolve the actor of his responsibility to repay the debt. With both parties unable to reach a final agreement during the hearing, the court has reserved its verdict. This decision marks a critical turning point in the high-profile legal battle that has followed the actor for years.
