Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan’s romcom De De Pyaar De 2 hit theatres on Friday, November 14, and has made a promising start at the box office. According to trading reports, the film has earned a total of Rs 34.75 crore within its first three days.
The movie, which also stars Jaaved Jaaferi, Meezan Jaaferi, and Gautami Kapoor, opened with a solid Rs 8.75 crore on its first day—a commendable feat for a post-pandemic release. Following the opening, the film gained momentum over the weekend, mirroring the trajectory of its predecessor. Early estimates suggest it earned Rs 12.25 crore on Saturday, marking a 40% increase from Friday, and Rs 13.75 crore on Sunday, showcasing steady audience interest and growing footfall.
Monday’s collections will be crucial in determining the film’s staying power, as the first De De Pyaar De enjoyed a successful five-week run after a similar start. Currently, the film is performing strongest in the Delhi-NCR region, but its long-term success will depend on how well it penetrates mass-market areas such as Gujarat and the central belt. Talking about the third day or Sunday, the occupancy in Hindi 2D theatres revealed a strong audience presence, with 9.59% in the morning, 25.64% in the afternoon, 38.57% in the evening, and 25.94% at night, highlighting particularly robust evening attendance.
The film is directed by Anshul Sharma, De De Pyaar De 2 continues the story from the first film. Ashish (Ajay Devgn) has won over his own family regarding his relationship with the younger Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh). However, the bigger challenge lies in convincing her parents, Rakesh (R.
