CBFC Demands 15 Cuts and Modifications in The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond, Halves Kiss and Rape Scenes

The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond is set to release on Friday, February 27, and has already stirred significant conversation on social media due to its shocking and controversial content. While films with such intense themes are usually restricted to adult audiences, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) surprisingly granted the film a U/A 16+ certificate.

However, the CBFC mandated 15 cuts and modifications before certification. Notably, the kissing scenes were reduced by 50%, shortening a lip-lock sequence by 7 seconds. Similarly, the rape scene visuals were cut by half, trimming about 20 seconds. Two additional scenes—one showing a woman being slapped and another where a woman’s head is struck—were each shortened by 2 seconds.

The board also asked for modifications in the visuals depicting the demolition of the accused’s house by a bulldozer. Three dialogues at different points in the film were altered, and one word was muted, although specific details of these changes have not been disclosed.

The makers were instructed to include a disclaimer stating the film is based on true events, with the text duration extended by 2 minutes and 3 seconds along with a voiceover. They were also required to submit the script and relevant documents supporting the true events portrayed.

At the same time, a consent letter for casting a minor artist was submitted to the CBFC. Following these changes, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond received its censor certificate on February 16. The film’s final duration is listed as 131 minutes and 24 seconds, or 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 24 seconds.

Talking about the film, it is produced by Vipul Shah and directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the film features Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha in lead roles. It will release in cinemas on February 27. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us and if you have anything to share do comment below and share your thoughts.
