Alia Bhatt Faces Backlash After Calling Alpha Her “First Action Film”; Netizens Question If She ‘Forgot’ Jigra

Actor Alia Bhatt, who is stepping into the YRF Spy Universe as a super agent in the female-led film Alpha, recently described it as her “first action film.” This comment has sparked a wave of online debate, with many fans pointing out her earlier action-packed role in Jigra.
On Tuesday, Alia made a striking appearance at the Gucci Spring/Summer 2026 Fashion Show during Milan Fashion Week 2025, attending as the luxury brand’s global ambassador. Wearing a bold chevron-patterned shearling long coat over a lace and satin slip dress, she turned heads with her fashion statement. It was during this event that she called Alpha her “first venture into action,” a remark that quickly ignited confusion and discussion on social media.
Expressing her excitement about Alpha, Alia said, “Wow, it’s pretty close. That’s a big one for me because it’s my first venture into action and I’m really curious to see how the audience connects with that.”However, the statement did not sit well with many online users who reminded her of the action sequences she performed in films like Jigra and Heart of Stone.
A Reddit user commented, “So, Alia Bhatt doesn’t consider Jigra and Heart of Stone as action films. Alpha is releasing this December.” Other posts were more critical: “It was an action film, Alia. And both tanked badly,” wrote one, while another joked, “Alia has deleted ShaandarSadakKalankJigra, and Heart of Stone from her filmography.”The debate grew with fans and critics weighing in. Some argued that Jigra had minimal action content, saying, “Jigra was not an action film though.
It hardly had one action block. Alpha would probably be the first full-fledged action film.” Others countered that if just a few action sequences define a film’s genre, many older Indian romantic films would also qualify as action films.Alpha marks Alia’s debut in YRF’s Spy Universe and is directed by Shiv Rawail, featuring co-stars Sharvari and Bobby Deol. Alongside Alpha, Alia is also working on Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal also starring.
