Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn is set to return as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 3: The Conclusion, marking the final chapter of the hit thriller franchise. Speaking at the FICCI Frames event, Devgn revealed that he personally called Malayalam icon Mohanlal to seek his approval. Since the Hindi adaptation strays completely from the original Malayalam narrative this time, Devgn felt it was important to get Mohanlal’s blessing. However, Mohanlal could not watch the preliminary cut immediately as he was away on holiday. Devgn shared that Mohanlal has remained warmly supportive and plans to watch the film soon.
Devgn also explained the decision to end the franchise with this third installment, admitting that crafting a convincing Drishyam script is exceptionally difficult. The writers and directors rejected four different drafts before finalizing a narrative that delivers the signature twists, turns, and shock value expected by fans. Devgn emphasized that the story needed to logically progress from the previous film’s cliffhanger rather than forcing a brand-new murder mystery. Having seen the final edit, he expressed confidence that it surpasses Drishyam 2 and stated that ending the franchise at its peak was the right choice.
Drishyam 3: The Conclusion features returning cast members Shriya Saran, Tabu, Ishita Dutta, and Rajat Kapoor, alongside new additions Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj. Directed by Abhishek Pathak and produced by Star Studio18, Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek, the film releases in theaters on October 2.
