Actor Ajay Devgn has finalized the title for his upcoming supernatural horror thriller with director Rohit Jugraj. While initial media reports suggested Griha Pravesh as the working title, the makers have officially named the project Suryasparsh.
The high-concept thriller is inspired by ancient Indian texts, specifically Veda Vyasa’s Garuda Puran, which details dialogues between Lord Vishnu and Garuda. Devgn plays a morally ambiguous character with supernatural elements in a narrative designed to build psychological dread and mystery.
Production Schedule and Creative Team
Principal photography for Suryasparsh began on September 2 and is scheduled to continue through November. The makers are targeting a nationwide theatrical release in the second half of 2027.
The film is produced by Kumar Mangat and Abhishek Pathak under the Panorama Studios banner in collaboration with Devgn Films. This project continues a long-running creative partnership between the two studios, which previously delivered box-office successes like Drishyam, Raid, and Shaitaan. Panorama Studios is also gearing up for the release of Drishyam: The Conclusion, scheduled for theaters on October 2.
Director’s Background and Vision
Director Rohit Jugraj brings prior experience in the horror and suspense genres to the project. Early in his career, he assisted on Ram Gopal Varma’s 2003 supernatural hit Bhoot, which also starred Ajay Devgn. Jugraj later directed the popular Punjabi franchise Sardaarji and streaming thrillers like Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein and Chamak.
Producer Abhishek Pathak stated that the film relies on atmosphere and psychological tension rather than relies solely on visual spectacle. He noted that Devgn’s involvement as both lead actor and producer brings valuable creative input, while Jugraj’s directorial approach fits the story’s eerie tone.
With shooting currently underway, Suryasparsh aims to offer a distinct entry in the Indian supernatural thriller space upon its release in 2027.
