Aamir Khan has officially announced his cameo appearance in superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. In an interview with Zoom, the Sitaare Zameen Par actor expressed his excitement about the role, revealing that his admiration for Rajinikanth played a significant part in his decision to join the project.
When responding to a fan’s inquiry about his cameo, Aamir Khan stated, “I really enjoyed doing it. I am a big fan of Rajini sir…huge fan. I have a lot of love and respect for Rajini sir. So, I didn’t even need to hear the script. When Lokesh told me that it was a Rajini sir’s movie and that he wanted me to do a cameo, I said, ‘Done. I am doing it. Whatever it is, I am doing it.’”
Coolie is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action thriller produced by Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth in the lead role, alongside co-stars Soubin Shahir, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Upendra.
The producers recently released an engaging title teaser, showcasing Rajinikanth battling villains in a factory-like environment. The teaser was presented in a striking monochrome style, with only the gold hue highlighted, and it received an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences eager for this thrilling collaboration. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and editing by Philomin Raj. Coolie is set to release worldwide in both standard and IMAX formats in 2025.
In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Aamir Khan shared his feelings of heartbreak after the underwhelming response to Sitaare Zameen Par. He admitted to being emotionally affected, saying, “To be honest, after Laal Singh Chaddha, I was quite depressed and surprised that people didn’t like it.” The sports comedy-drama, a remake of the popular Spanish film Champions, features Genelia Deshmukh alongside ten newcomers in key roles.
