Aamir Khan and R. Madhavan Deny Being Approached for 3 Idiots Sequel: “It Also Sounds Far-Fetched”

The internet has recently been buzzing with rumours about a potential sequel to Rajkumar Hirani’s iconic film 3 Idiots. However, when approached individually, the film’s lead actors Aamir Khan and R. Madhavan both denied any knowledge of such plans, putting the speculation to rest—at least for now. R. Madhavan expressed mixed feelings about the idea. He said, “A sequel to 3 Idiots sounds great, but it also sounds far-fetched. All three of us Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, and I—are much older now.

Where do we go in the sequel? What are our lives like at this stage? It’s an interesting thought, but hardly conducive to a proper sequel. I would love to work with Raju Hirani again, but 3 Idiots again? I think that would be idiotic.” Madhavan’s honest reflection highlights the challenges of revisiting such a beloved story after so many years, especially when the characters have naturally evolved.

On the other hand, Aamir Khan welcomed the idea of a sequel with enthusiasm but clarified that he has not been officially approached about it. “We had so much fun making that film! My character Rancho is the most popular character I’ve played. People still talk about Rancho. So yeah, I’d love to do a sequel. But no one has approached me,” he said. His openness to the idea shows his fondness for the film and its enduring impact on audiences. With both actors expressing either skepticism or a lack of formal contact, it seems the rumours about the 3 Idiots sequel remain just that—for now.

Fans hoping for a continuation of this beloved story may need to wait for any official announcements from the filmmakers themselves. Until then, the legacy of 3 Idiots remains untarnished and timeless. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us and if you have anything to share do comment below.
