The company is reportedly moving forward with a follow-up that will feature the same primary cast, according to a Pinkvilla article. “The script has been locked, and the team is very excited for it,” an insider informed the portal. They believe that the first movie’s magic has returned, and it is just as humorous, poignant, and significant as the first.
The plot’s future direction was revealed by the source, who stated, “The story will be a continuation, picking up nearly 15 years after the characters went their separate ways in the climax scene and reunite for a new adventure.”
Hirani and Aamir Khan reportedly chose to put off their intended biopic about Dadasaheb Phalke because they thought the script needed more development. The director decided it was time to return the universe of 3 Idiots after putting that project on hold. He had been considering this idea for years.
The report further stated, “He dedicated time to expand the 3 Idiots sequel into a full-fledged screenplay. Hirani always had a seed of an idea for 3 Idiots 2, but he wanted it to be perfect and something that would stand up to the legacy of the original.”
