If you remember Company, you would appreciate the character of Chandu in it. Well, he is none other than Vivek Oberoi, who started his career in Bollywood with this movie. Born and brought up in Hyderabad in Punjabi family of Suresh Oberoi who happens to be a known actor of B Town. Vivek did his schooling from Hyderabad followed by his college at Mayo College in Ajmer and then in Bombay at the popular college called Mithibai College based in Juhu. After his college, he got the chance to attend a workshop on acting in London wherein the New York University director who took him along to NY for his master ’s degree in filmmaking and acting spotted him. Apart from acting, Vivek Oberoi also did the script-writing job as well in India.

Wiki : Vivek Oberoi started his career in Bollywood in a movie called Company produced by Ram Gopal Varma for which he conferred two prestigious awards from Filmfare for debut actor and best debut actor in supporting character. Since then it was no looking back for him as he got a number of movies including Dum, Road, Saathiya, Masti, Yuva, Kisna, etc. Most of his movies were a big hit over the box office, while some of his multi-starrer movies like Omkara based on Shakespeare’s play called Othello, Yuva and Shootout at Lokhandwala were among the all time bit hits. The audience and critics appreciated his next movie, called Mission Istanbul too.

His next movie Kurban was appreciated in 2009, while his next movie Prince couldn’t do well over the box office though it got a good start initially. The very same year, he was seen with a movie called Rakht Charitra, which was liked by both critics and audience. Some other movies in which he worked include Bloody Paki, Kismat Love Paisa DIlli and Watch Indian Circus. All of these movies were average at the box office, with the latter one was his own production. His next set of movies include Krissh 3 and Grand Masti, which was a big hit at Box Office, while he is currently working in Mumbai Saga. Besides, he has appeared over the small screen as well, wherein he worked as a TV presenter for the program called India’s Best Dramebaaz.

Apart from doing a number of movies, he is also involved in Philanthropy. He even bagged the Red and White Bravery Award in the year 2006 for re-building the entire village that are destroyed by Tsunami. He and his family has their own charity group called YOF (Yashodhara Oberoi Foundation), which has worked a lot in rehabilitation of Tsunami victims in Tamil Nadu. He is also the anti tobacco spokesperson for WHO’s anti tobacco program. His active role in charity has helped him to bag the Samaritan Award from Rotary International. He was even invited as a judge at Miss Sri Lanka Online contest in the year 2012. As far as his personal life is concerned, he is married to Priyanka Alva and the couple has a son called Vivaan V Oberoi.
