The Accidental Prime Minister in a legal tangle – Case filed against the makers
Ever since the trailer of the film The Accidental Prime Minister surfaced in the media, there has been some objection or the other was posed by a certain section of the society and the political party that is linked with Dr. Singh the former PM of India. In a recent move, a formal complaint has been lodged in the court stating that the former PM and other political leaders have been showcased poorly. It was Sudhir Kumar Ojhar the lawyer who filed this petition before the court with Gurab Kamal who is the chief Judicial magistrate. The complaint alleged Anupam Kher that he has not played the character doing justice to Dr. Singh.
The other objections were raised on Akshay Khanna who is playing a journalist and media advisor to Dr. Singh in the film. The petition also named the actors who have played the role of Sonia Gandhi the Congress Chief and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The complaint has alleged the makers including the director and producer stating that they have hurt the politicians and others with their film. Also, the complaint alleged the makers that they have shown all the political party leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mayawati and even L K Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee in a poor light. They have objected to the screening of the promos as well.
The petition referred several IPC sections like 153, 153 A, 295, 120 B, 504, and others that relate to insult and the intent to hamper the peace in society with criminal conspiracy. The charges by the complainant have been serious on the makers and these are likely to be heard by the Chief Judicial Magistrate soon. Also, it is noteworthy to state that the director of the film has been alleged to have a fraud of taxes worth 34 Crores and has also served jail for the same. So, with all these issues together the film will have a tough time ahead during the final hearing of the film before the Judicial Magistrate. The film was supposed to release on 11th Jan 2019.
