Payel Sarkar is a popular actress of Bengali films apart from being an actor of Hindi TV serials. She is among the popular stars in Bengal and thus has embarked as one of the highly paid actress in regional cinema. She was born and brought up in Kolkata in the year 1984 on 10th of February. She comes from the family of Sarkars the non filmy background parents. She went to Pratt Memorial for her schooling, while for her college, she complete her graduation in arts majoring in History. During her college days, she was very much active and was recognized for her extracurricular activities.

This gave her the chance to appear on the cover page of the Bengali magazine called Unish Kuri when she was in the first year. Later she got the chance to be the part of a couple of telefilms, which were directed by Sudeshna Roy. These ventures helped her to get recognition by filmmakers like Ravi Kinagi and groups like Venkatesh Films who chose her as the lead actress for their teen love story called I Love You opposite Deb. The film was a big hit over the box office, giving her a good exposure before the media and in the industry and since then it was no looking back for the talented actress.

She then headed to different ventures, which gave her laurel over the pedestal including Ladies Special, Love Story by Anurag Basu and soon her roads went to South Indian movies wherein she got the chance to a film called Cross Connection, which gave Prem Amar and Sohom to explore her various talents and skills sets of an actor especially for the Bengali audience. Some of her Bengali films include Prem Aamar, Le Chakka, Jaani Dekha Hobe, Le Halua Le, Bojhena Shey, etc. Some of her recent work include Ebar Shabor, Lorai, Guddu Ki Gun, Amanush 2, Jamai 420, Agantuker Pore, etc.

As far as Payel Sarkar awards are concerned, she bagged the award called Anandalok Award in the year 2010. Some of her popular TV serials include Love Story, Waqt Baayega Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya, Shakuntala and Ladies Special. All these serials were applauded for her incredible performance over the smaller screen. She enjoys a decent fan following especially at the West Bengal, while she is gearing up for the Bollywood venture, which is likely to get clicked soon considering her competence in acting, dance and music.
