Pankaj Tripathi is a known actor from Bollywood and is known for his different roles in it. He hails from Belsand, Gopalganj district, Bihar. He was born and brought up at this place only. He did his schooling from a local school along with working with his parents who were farmers. However, his interest has been always in acting and used to play different roles in Village nataks and plays. The villagers loved his performances and that prompted him to shift to Patna to join theatres after completing his high school from state board. He also got enrolled in college while doing theatre. He was also active in student’s politics and was the member of ABVP. He stayed in Patna for seven years and finally headed to Delhi to get enrolled in the prestigious institute NSD and graduated in the year 2004.
He then headed to Mumbai once he completed his graduation from NSD. In the same year, he got the chance to do a small role in the film Run. But he then took eight long years to get is a big break in films in the year 2012. He was roped in the movie Gangs of Wasseypur by Anurag Kashyap and since then it was no looking back for him. Interestingly for this role, his audition lasted for eight long hours. He was also seen on small screen doing the Bahubali TV series, followed by the other called Powder aired on Sony TV. During his early days in the film, he mostly did negative roles playing often the gangster roles.
He was applauded for his role in these roles as well. Later the film Gurgaon gave him the chance of a lead role in 2017. He then did another called Newton, and the film was later nominated for the Academy Award in the category of best foreign film. Some of his recent films include Bareilly Ki Barfi, Fukrey Returns, Munna Michael, Kaalakaandi, Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain, Phamous, and Stree to name a few. His upcoming films include Super 30, and Luka Chuppi. In 2018, he did his debut in Tamil film as well called Kaala. Currently, he is seen in a web series called Mirzapur aired at Amazon Video while he was also in Sacred Games. He is married and has a daughter.
