If you look at the story, we have a rookie cop who joins the crime branch of the popular competent Police Department in Mumbai and on his first assignment, which is faced with the dilemma of whether he should consider shooting a murder suspect who seems to attempting to escape or not. So, what happens next would be interesting to explore.

We see the debutant director Amit Kumar’s crime drama, Monsoon Shootout is seen resting more over the style rather than substance. The story simply hinges over the way the decision has made in a split-second by Adi, who is a a cop played by Vijay Varma when he is seen coming face-to-face with the murder suspect, now we get to see Shiva played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui who has the power to change the course of not just his own his life but of the suspect as well. The script can be called as different appealing in this film. In fact, one of the compelling about the film’s story is the way it throws the light over the compromises that are involved, irrespective of the moral aspects of the decisions of the cops and his actions.

Though one may be hooked to the idea as the viewer, but what really brings back the movie is the execution part. There are several different versions of the film, which include the narrative play, which is out based over the varying decisions that can be made by the protagonist and at the end it can only frustrate and fatigue the audience. Talking about the screenplay, it can be called as a decent one but when it was translated on screen, it simply lacks a definitive sharpness.

Talking about the cinematography, it seems to be of top notch and the way in which the city of Bombay is invested with the visceral quality that can be called as the high points of the film. The actor Vijay Varma is seen making a fairly assured debut and Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the evil with a smirk and elan is simply incredible. Since the actors are seen reprising their roles thrice over, they fail to enough time over the screen to flesh out their characters in a right way.

Perhaps, the maker of the film has given the audience to have just a one-time watch film. If you are keen in lifting the mood just once and interested in indulging in a narrative, which is not just the run-of-the-mill, then you can think of catching up this film for sure this weekend.
