Commando 2 Movie Review

Commando 2

Rating: 2 Stars

Star Cast: Vidyut Jamwal, Adah Sharma, Esha Gupta, Adil Hussain

Director: Deven Bhojani

What’s Good: High octave action by Vidyut Jammwal and his ability to pull off action with great ease

What’s Bad: The hammy dialogues and a boring plot.

Plot

Commando 2 deals with burning issues like a black money and demonetization trail as Karan (Vidyut Jammwal) a commando, cops Bakhtawar (Freddy Daruwala) and Bhawna Reddy (Adah Sharma) are assigned to arrest Vicky Chadha (Thakur Anoop Singh) the man behind the international money laundering in Thailand. While Karan and Bakhtawar don’t see eye to eye, Bhawna’s too stupid to lead a mission. A major twist in tale comes when Vicky’s wife Maria (Esha Gupta) claims that she and Vicky are innocent. There’s double crossing, love affairs and a much bigger truth yet to unfold. Will Karan succeed in his mission is what is left to see.

Review

Building an action franchise in B Town is a simple task as we find in most of these films putting minimal efforts to give a right story and Commando 2 is a classic example of that. The plot is basic with typical elements and the only connection the film tries to have with current times, is play the demonetization card. One may honestly feel that the script has been written by anyone who follows B Town very closely and hence feels a formulaic plot will help.

Talking about the star performances, Vidyut Jammwal looks supe rfit and is impressive with his body agility. His hand to hand combat really looks cool and there’s nothing much in his acting that makes him stand out. The actress Adah Sharma as Bhawna Reddy jabbers in the Hyderabadi accent and simply annoying yet she should be applauded for her efforts. Esha Gupta is like Rustom part two in this film wherein she again proves that she is bad in her performance and wonder why directors keep casting her.

Commando 2: The Last Word

An action movie needs to be slick and that’s where this one falls short. It’s not pacey and you’re not drawn into the story. There are no songs luckily but the background score is jarring, especially since we keep hearing ‘Commando‘every time he is on the move. The film Commando 2 does not do any justice to its name. It’s a lackluster action film with remotely riveting story and thus a rating of 2 is more than enough for this film.
