Last Friday, the film Chalk N Duster has released, which revolves around the genre of education and the way this sector is pursuing to become commercial. The movie having stalwarts like Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla and Divya Dutta have together managed to give one of the best performances over the silver screen, however, considering the fact that this film is a niche based movie; it failed to attract the audience for the same. Also, with other movies already running including Wazir and Bajirao Mastani, the film compelled to go down or with not more than a decent amount of collection in this.
The first week box office collection for Chalk N Duster tolled to around 2.5 crore, which is still a decent amount for a film, which failed to have enough star value and good amount of promotion. The experts had already predicted about its low mullah to be seen in it. Also, the film Chalk N Duster failed to garner much response for many other reasons as well, which made the film remain low in terms of occupancy and report. Ironically, in India, one can find good movies with decent ratings fail to garner good response and nonsensical films get the fame.
