25 years past his big Bollywood debut Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, today Aamir Khan is an actor par excellence and also a social activist and doubtlessly an apt role model for the youngsters of India. The 49 year old Actor is the winner of three national awards and Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards.

Aamir Before films: Born in Mumbai, Aamir’s father and uncle were eminent filmmakers. He acted in Uncle Nasir Hussain’s Yaadoan Ki Baarat (1973) as a child actor. Before he made his award winning debut in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, he had acted in a few films and was assistant director to his uncle Nasir Hussain.Reckoned among the leading actors in the industry, Aamir has to his credit films that were commercially as well   as critically successful.

Aamir and Lover Boy Roles: Aamir began his journey with Qayamat Se Qyamat Tak as a Youngman beaming with dreams in his eyes who embraced death for true love. He became a fad among the young college going generation of the time. He played romantic hero in films like Dil , Dil Hain Ki Maanta Nahi and Love Love Love. Before this established him as a romantic hero he turned his wheels towards other genres like crime and comedy. No one can forget him paring up with a young Salman Khan in Andaaz Apna Apna and producing rib tickling comedy.

The Butt Kicking Aamir : In Baazi and Raja Hindustani , Sarfarosh and Ghulam  we saw Aamir in action . Rangeela , Jo Jeeta wahi Sikander and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke were few his memorable films.

He had not yet reached the pinnacle of success when he started experimenting with his roles and genres. In the year 2000, his co produced Lagaan, which took the film industry by storm. In this period film set in the pre independence period, Aamir played the memorable character of Bhuan a villager who earns for his village exemption from taxes as a prize for winning  a  wager with a group of British. The film was nominated for the best film category of best foreign language film in Oscars that year. Aamir touched new highs with the success of Lagaan.

In 2007, Aamir defied all contemporary success mantras for success in movies and came up with a path breaking subject in Taare Zameen Par,  a film based on learning disability.  Playing the   mentor of an eight year old boy who struggles to cope up with the set norms of studies, Aamir opened up a whole new direction of thoughts in the domain of education in the country. This was followed by Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots that went down in the history of Bollywood as the most commercially successful film of all time. At the age of 45, Aamir played the role of an IIT student who brings love and laughter in everyone’s life.

Though he portrayed manifold of characters with an exemplary perfection,  Aamir was left with  a desire to produce a show that would tap the heart beat of the Indian society and its indigenous systems. Satyamev Jayate happened on Star plus and Aamir unmasked many truths of the Indian society. With this show that was first of its kind, he set himself apart from his contemporaries who contained themselves with commercially successful film and endorsements.

How Full is the Kitty? Over the years, Aamir’s kitty has been chunking with money not only because he charges highly fro films but because of his endorsements and production house. His major brand endorsements are Coca Cola, Titan and Videocon. For few years now he has also been sharing the profit of his film’s success like other big stars.

Family and Beyond: He was   a married young man even before he made his debut in the industry and has   a  son named Junaid and daughter Ira from his ex wife Reena. Unfortunately the couple parted ways and Aamir began his new innings with his assistant director of Lagaan Kiran Rao who is his current wife. The couple has a two year old son named Azad.

Aamir’s nephew Imran Khan is also an actor in the Industry. Aamir has acted with his brother Faizal Khan in the film Mela ( 2000).
